ABSLTA Celebrates its 20th Year on 25th April 2009
The ABSLTA will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year and to mark the
occasion we will be holding a Special Social Evening on the day of the Annual
General Meeting. This day will be at Luton Deaf Club on Saturday 25th April
The AGM will be in the morning and will be followed by a presentation/workshop
given by Melinda Napier and Robert Adam on Professionalism, Tutors
Responsibilities and Continuing Professional Development [CPD]. [Note: CPD is
compulsory for ALL tutors]
It is hoped that the afternoon will be given to two presentations/workshops by
the University of Lancashire on their QED BSL and Signonline project and by
Signature [formerly CACDP] on the reasons for their change of name and their
aims/hopes for the future - this will give members an opportunity to give
Signature some feedback.
The evening will be a social event including quizzes on Sign Language and the
Deaf Community and other games, starting at approximately 7pm.

The
RNID have produced a multimedia package to help students learning BSL. Tutors
might also find the package useful as a classroom teaching material. Cost of

Upcoming Workshops
So far five workshops have been held, at York, Luton, Bromley, Birmingham and
Reading. The five workshops already held were well attended, apart from the
Reading one, which was perhaps too near Christmas.
